Judith White :- Interior Designer
Started training and running dogs in 2001
Ian White Trained her using the same commands as himself just
in case one day his job may take him away from home and Judith
could still run the dog. Training together every day Judith took
on Cracka litter sister to FTCh Minstead Morse. She took to it
all very quickly. I had entered Cracka For the North West Lab
Retriever Club Open Working Test at Buxton. Not realising that
I would be away at the London Marathon I left the entry in and
asked to change the handler, which was accepted. So Judith went
off to her first ever event. Once at Buxton she realised what
she had let herself in for. The quality of the field was like
the who’s who of the National Championships. Everybody was
really helpful realising it was her first event. When she was
still there, being one of the last 6 remaining dogs, people started
asking who was this person and in her first event. The final outcome
was Judith White 1st. She phoned me while I was travelling back
from London. I was totally shocked but not surprised. We have
continued to train our dogs together and Judith is very much hands
on in looking after them all and is brilliant when we have litters
on the go. The good thing about training together is the young
pups can change so much in their response to different people,
that a dog I might be bringing on, stops responding to me but
gets on better with Judith and visa versa
This is what happened with Scout. He became an open dog very quickly
in working test and in Oct 05 he won his first Field trial followed
very quickly by another win in an All Aged Stake Field trial,
then a COM in another Trial
2006 Season was on the horizon and suddenly out of the Blue I
was going to be away for most of the trialling season. So we decided
Judith would take over the handling of Scout for the 2006 season.
Scout at this time was a very hard going dog and Judith took him
on head to head and it is well known what she has achieved. She
has worked with him and they understand each other very well.
Underneath that hard exterior he is the kindest most placid dog
you could ever have. Judith has the ability to keep him calm between
retrieves but when she pushes the button his out runs are quite
unbelievable. She has spent hours and hours with him teaching
him to hunt properly once he reaches the area; hence he is a very
good game finder and has had many eye wipes to his credit.
